New feature: Assign Advisors in the Contacts tab
We’ve added a new feature that we’d like to bring your attention to. There’s a new way to add advisors to students – right from the Contacts tab!
Prior to today, the Contacts tab looked like this:
As of today, you will now have the ability to manage Advisor Assignments from the Contacts tab.
We’ve made the following changes:
- The text ‘send message’ has been removed and replaced with an envelope icon. Clicking on this icon will initiate a Canvas conversations message.
- You may now delete an advisor from a student in this area (this functionality is only available on the account level – this option is not visible to instructors on the course level)
- You may now add an advisor to a student in this area (also, only available on the account level – not visible in a course)
At this time, you may only add existing advisors to students (those that already show up in the Advisor Assignments page). We’re working toward adding functionality that would allow you to create new advisors, whereas currently you have to contact us and request that a user be given the ‘advisor’ role in Dropout Detective.
The Advisor Assignments link will still be present on the top of your dashboard. This functionality is in addition to that page. The Advisor Assignments page and the Contacts tab are synced. If you make a change in either place, it will be immediately reflected in both.
Only users that have access to the Advisor Assignments page will have access to make changes to the advisors in the Contacts tab. There have been no changes in permissions.
We hope that you find this new functionality helpful. We’d love to hear your feedback! Please feel free to reach out to our team at support@aspiredu.com if you have any questions or if there is anything we can do to make your day easier!
